The Dweller on the Threshold

I've started a new project called On the Threshold; it may end up a screenplay or even possibly a novel (fingers crossed), and in 'googling' the title to ensure it hasn't been used very distinctly by someone else, I was surprised to find that the first search result was a Wikipedia article called "The Dweller on the Threshold." This is absolutely fascinating stuff.

Apparently, the dweller on the threshold is an "invisible malevolent entity that attaches to a human being" from said individual's past lives' negative personality traits that have remained unconquered. This dweller follows one around, through all their subsequent reincarnations, until all of one's soul's issues are adressed.

"Each life sees some progress made; some personality defects [are] straightened out, and some real advance [is] effected. But the unconquered residue and its ancient liabilities are numerous," excessively potent, and eventually there emerges "a life wherein the highly developed and powerful personality becomes, in itself, the Dweller on the Threshold."

Heavy business, right? And considering that On the Threshold focuses on themes of one's past haunting all of their attempts to outrun it, the aging of youth, and the question of whether we are the dream or the dreamer, I'd say this little bit of bizarre and questionable science fits in rather nicely.
